How Do I Turn Off Active Desktop with XP


  • Right-click on your desktop--> Properties
  • Go to the "Desktop" tab
  • At the bottom click "Customize Desktop"
  • Go to the "Web" tab. 
  • Nothing in there should have a checkmark.
